Team Leader Volunteer Role Requirements


To mentor Victim Response Volunteers, act as a liaison between referral sources and Victim Services of York Region (VS-Y) Victim Response Volunteer Teams (VRT), and to help ensure that safe, effective and excellent service is provided by the VRT to VSY clients.


  • Attended and successfully completed the VSY Victim Response (On-Scene) Volunteer Training
  • Active Victim Response Volunteer in good standing with VS-Y for at least one (1) year
  • Successful completion of Tier II Training for Team Leaders
  • Resident of York Region
  • Possess a valid 'G' driver's licence
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must have a minimum of $1 000 000.00 automobile liability insurance coverage
  • Consented to a Security Clearance Investigation or Criminal Record Screening
  • Provided at least 3 references
  • Must have attended a personal interview with the VSY screening panel
  • Commit to at least one year of service
  • Familiarity and compliance with VSY Policies and Procedures and any and all updates, including but not limited to confidentiality obligations and safety procedures
  • Take a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month
  • Attend and participate in all required Volunteer Meetings held the third Wednesday of every month
  • Attend and participate in all required Team Leader Meetings held the second Wednesday of alternate months (beginning January 2006)
  • Participate in all evaluation/supervision requirements
