Administrative Volunteer Role Requirements
Purpose:
To provide administrative support at the Victim Services of York Region (VSY) office (s).
Requirements
- Available during VSY office regular business hours (weekdays 9am-5pm) to assist at the VSY office location
- Excellent office skills which include: typing; computer and printer knowledge (minimum of Microsoft Word, but Excel, Access and PowerPoint knowledge and experience would be an asset); photocopier use; fax machine use; filing; answering telephone enquiries; greeting visitors
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Successfully complete a written test and a computer test
- Resident of York Region
- 16 years of age or older
- At least 2 years since any personal traumas
- Provided a York Regional Police conducted Vulnerable Sector Screening Letter to VSY
- Provided at least 3 references
- Must have attended a personal interview with the VSY screening panel
- Successfully attended Tier I training provided by VSY and refer to Office Administrative Binder as required
- Commit to at least one year of service
- Familiarity and compliance with VSY Policies and Procedures and any and all updates, including but not limited to confidentiality obligations and safety procedures
- Provide a minimum of 10 hours of Administrative Assistance at VSY office per month
- Complete and submit any required documentation, including signing in and out for shifts
- Attend and participate in all required Volunteer Meetings held the third Wednesday of every month
- Be available to document and prepare minutes from Volunteer Meetings
- Participate in all evaluation/supervision requirements
