Victim Services of York Region is a non-profit, charitable, community based organization working in partnership with York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police, Aurora detachment, and York Region Fire Services. Its mandate is to meet the short-term needs of persons victimized by crime or tragic circumstance by providing emotional support, practical assistance, and referrals to community resources for continued support. Service delivery is based on the principle of empowerment and prevention through education and advocacy.
Victim Services of York Region Inc. is looking for new Volunteers to support the agency in meeting its mission and mandate.
The VSY Volunteer Program has a number of opportunities that allow people to assist their community. These roles currently include:
The volunteer-candidate is required to attend varying hours of training, depending on the role they wish to undertake with the program.
Applicants who meet the criteria listed in the Screening section of this website will be asked to complete and return a VSY Volunteer Application Form. These forms need to be received by January for the Winter session and by August for the Fall session (at least 1 month prior to the start of the next training session) to allow time for all Screening levels to be completed for each applicant.
Training sessions are held twice per year, usually starting in February for the Winter session and again in September for the Fall session.
Packages received after the deadline date may be considered for the next training sessions.
